This week, students had rigorous learning in the classroom gaining valuable skills balanced with homework and MAP testing. For all of those students who went into the testing sessions with your game faces on and gave an all-out effort, I applaud you.
In 6th grade, students will continue to read their novels and use the elements of comprehension to understand the themes of the novel, the author's purpose, and point of view. Students will also discuss different high-ordered thinking skills that we will come across and how they add to their analytical skills. The students have come a long way so far, but we still have a long way to go.
In 7th grade, students will read their self- selected novels from the library and engage in literature circles. Within the circles, students will journal, using writing prompts, and learn what the Golden Moment is. Moreover, students will elaborate with peers in those circles stating the Golden moments and information form those novels.
In 8th grade, students will review the previous chapters read of their novels and discuss them in small groups. As they are reading this novel, students will understand the author's purpose and point of view, and the main themes of the novel. Also, students will learn what correction marks are and use them with the Writing Process to write their essays. In the middle of the week, they will recite them. Students will also use the aforementioned Writing Process to write their science research papers.

MAP FALL TESTING SESSION – This is the third week of our Map testing session. Parent cooperation in making sure our students are in school on time is greatly appreciated.
NO ELECTRICITY ON TUESDAY – The ENEE has published that there will be no electricity in our school on Tuesday, October 8. We encourage parents to pack snack and lunch for students that does NOT require refrigeration or heating.
DONATIONS NEEDED: “Ya Tengo Donde Escribir” is an organization aiming to help children from public schools that cannot afford notebooks. In order to help, the organization makes notebooks out of cereal boxes and pages from used notebooks. They are now collecting cereal boxes until November 20, and we encourage our students and teachers to bring cereal boxes from their homes. At the end of the contest, the grade that brought the most boxes will be awarded a pizza party or ice cream party! Please help us help those in need!
