Week of October 14th

The 6th grade classes have modestly improved, and I hope the value that is being created continues to provide growth for us as we chug into the 2nd Quarter.

This week, we will finish our class novel, Loser, by Jerry Spinelli. We will have whole class discussions to review the main themes of the novel and form into literature circle to discuss the novel's last couple of chapters and those themes. Students will use higher- ordered thinking skills to ponder some of the predicaments of our main character, Donald Zinkoff.

HOMEWORK:
Reading and reviewing chapters (20- 30) of the novel
Creating foldables

The 7th grade class will continue to use writing prompts, journals, and literature circles to understand and use to discuss their self- selected novels from the library. Students have enjoyed the extra time to read their novel, gaining valuable reading stamina and comprehension skills in the process.
