I hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday and gave thanks and praise to the great man who provided it!!
All classes had a great week! Most of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students performed extremely well, and I commend them for their ongoing efforts to partner with me in their education.
The 6th grade students, some who were late the first and second week of classes, will finalize their writings of their holiday vacations and recite them to the class ending the unit of their novel, Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls. Also, students will insure their understanding and knowledge of synonyms, antonyms, homographs, homonyms, and homophones by stating the differences of them and using them effectively in sentences.
The 7th grade students will demonstrate their comprehension and acting skills of their novel, The Giver, by Lois Lowry by acting out a selected chapter of it. Students, who are formed into literary circles, will showcase their abilities, along with their mates, and be assessed with rubrics. This should be fun!! Good luck, students!!
Also, students will receive another set of vocabulary words to review and journal with writing prompts for various chapters of the novel.
The 8th grade students will begin the week by reviewing adverbs, prepositions, and prepositional phrases and deepen their knowledge about conjunctions. Students will demonstrate their learning using the textbook and worksheets from the workbook. Also, students will learn about interjections, identify them, and use them appropriately in a sentence.
Let's have a great week! Achieving is Believing!
