Week of November 4th

NO SCHOOL, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8 due to TEACHER WORKSHOPS!!

All middle school students had a great week of classes in English/ Language Arts!! Let's keep creating value daily!!

All 6th graders will continue to use the Writing Process and the 6+1 Traits of Writing to publish their final drafts of their essay. Most students have used the class time well to understand the steps to effective writing and nearly complete their essays. Students will view a rubric to show how they will be graded and read their essays before the class. At the end of each essay, each student will field questions from their peers about their essay.

The 7th grade students will continue to read their novel, The Pigman, by Paul Zindel. While reading this novel, students will continue to journal using prompts, know the author's purpose for writing, discuss the themes of the novel, increase vocabulary, deepen reading and comprehension skills, and establish high order and critical thinking skills. So far, the class has performed well, but some students have not and need to pick- up the pace. Students will end the week with a vocabulary test.

The 8th grade class is moving along, but has slowed a bit. In order to stay on pace, they need to motivate themselves instead of looking to me as their sole means of inspiration. Students will continue to learn about comparative and superlative adjectives and close with learning about misplaced and dangling modifiers with the help of the textbook and the 8th Grade Grammar Notebook.

Let's have a great week of learning!! Believing is Achieving!!!
